The Next Generation of USB Headsets Has Arrived: Meet the HP Poly Mission Series

Published on by Stephen Mays

After nearly a decade as a go-to solution, the Blackwire series is officially getting a refresh.

For years, the HP Poly Blackwire series has been an industry-leading USB plug-and-play headset across contact centers, remote work setups, and hybrid environments. Replacing a product line with such a massive install base marks a significant shift, and it’s one worth paying attention to. To break it all down, a few of our subject matter experts at Call One, Inc. sat down with Brad Hager from HP Poly to discuss what this transition means and what users can expect from the new lineup.

Built for the Modern Workforce

The new HP Poly Mission series is designed with today’s work environments in mind, whether that’s a busy contact center, a home office, or a hybrid setup. This lineup is purpose-built to support the evolving needs of professionals who rely on clear, consistent communication throughout their day.

What’s New?

The Mission series introduces several meaningful upgrades over the legacy Blackwire line:

  • AI Noise Reduction and Super Wideband Audio come standard across all models, delivering clearer conversations on both ends of the call
  • Larger 32mm speakers (up from 28mm in Blackwire) provide richer, fuller sound
  • Sustainability improvements, including TCO certification and recycled materials in packaging, align with growing environmental priorities

Simplified Lineup, Smarter Buying

Poly Mission Series USB Headsets

One of the biggest (and most welcome) changes is simplicity.

Where the Blackwire series offered dozens of variations, the Mission series streamlines options down to just a few core models. This makes life easier for IT teams and purchasing departments, while also giving end users confidence that they’re getting the right headset without overcomplicating the decision.

Every model includes:

  • USB-A and USB-C connectivity
  • A dedicated Microsoft Teams button that automatically activates in Teams environments and remains inactive in standard UC setups

Designed to Last

The Mission series is also built with longevity in mind. With replaceable ear cushions and headbands, organizations can extend the life of their headsets without needing full replacements, reducing both cost and waste over time.

Product Availability

The lineup will roll out in phases:

  • The 400 series is available now
  • The 600 and 800 series are expected later this year

Is It Time to Upgrade?
